Psilocybin & psilocin are psychoactive compounds that create a psychedelic experience when consumed. They are naturally produced by various species of fungi collectively and colloquially referred to as “magic mushrooms”. Psilocybin is a prodrug, or precursor, of psilocin, the actual psychoactive compound. When consumed, all psilocybin is converted to psilocin in the stomach by gastric acid via dephosphorylation before crossing the blood-brain barrier to produce a conscious effect. Learn More >>
